The KFS Book Club meets once a month and is open to all students in grades 8 through 12. Students participate by reading and discussing new young adult literature over lunch in the library. The purpose of the club is to provide a forum where students enjoy award winning literature and discussion with their peers. This organization promotes critical thinking and self expression. The KFS Book Club engages in an ongoing discussion, "Does art imitate life, or does life imitate art?"
DRAMA CLUB
Members of the Drama Club prepare and present productions during the school year. Some students may participate in role playing while others use their skills and talents in art, music, and organization to successfully produce and "sell" the production.
FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES (FCA)
The FCA is a student-led organization that promotes Christian ideals, spiritual development, and community support. This organization is NOT limited to athletes; all are welcome to join!
FORENSICS
Forensics, sponsored by the Association of Virginia Academies, is open to all students in grades 5-12. The team competes in public speaking, monologue presentation, poetry reading, prose reading, creative writing, and handwriting. This organization promotes individual skill and encourages creativity, self expression, and sound thinking.
SCHOLASTIC BOWL
Scholastic Bowl is sponsored by the Association of Virginia Academies. It is an academic team that competes with other schools within the Association. Faculty sponsors of this club choose the members who will be eligible to compete.
STRATEGY CLUB
The Games and Strategy Club allows students to engage in games of strategy such as chess and Risk.
TRI-HI-Y
Each year, the Virginia YMCA sponsors a variety of programs to educate students on state government. KFS students participate in the Model General Assembly (MGA) and the Model Judiciary (MJ). Through these programs, these students assume the roles of state legislators (MGA) as well as lawyers and witnesses (MJ) to make learning come alive. Students are selected to participate in the roles of these programs based on age, interest, and prior participation.
