Fourth Grade

Welcome to the Fourth Grade!

Many exciting and fun activities take place in our room. In fourth grade, we focus on the academic, social, emotional, and physical growth of our students in a safe and caring environment.

Along with our core subjects, we are fortunate to have weekly resource classes for art, music, character education, library, and physical education.

Much of our learning and many of our activities take place in small groups to provide opportunities for greater participation and individual practice. While recognizing the importance of independent work, we also learn the importance of working as a “team.” We enjoy many hands-on activities across the curriculum, but we must say that “edible” science activities are our favorite!

Along with the rest of the Lower School, fourth grade participates in a chapel program, Grandparents’ Day, Christmas and May Day programs. May Day is our “big” performance because we are responsible for the traditional May Pole and dance. We are also community minded participating in various school-wide and classroom service projects.

We enjoy getting away from the classroom for learning and having fun. Field trips include our annual trip to Jamestown, a visit to Lucky Lake Gem Mine, plays at Swift Creek Theater, and dining in downtown Blackstone.

If learning and fun are what you’re looking for- fourth grade is the place to be!
