History

The Kenston Forest Upper School History Curriculum includes World History, World Geography, American History, and Political Science (US Government). The purpose is to acquaint students with major trends in historical thought, as well as give each student an understanding of America’s unique heritage and historical experience. We also use historical controversies as an informational source from which students are required to write essays and research papers thus enhancing their writing capabilities. World History II (1500 – Present), American History, and Political Science are also offered as Dual Enrollment classes through Southside Virginia Community College. These classes are taught at Kenston by on-site faculty holding advanced History Degrees. Additionally, the History faculty often offers electives that focus on topics such as The History of Virginia, United States Presidents, Current American Culture, The Cold War, and The World War II Era.
