Four Kenston Forest School rising seniors chosen by the KFS Faculty, are representing KFS at Girls and Boys State this week.
ALA Virginia Girls State provides participants an opportunity to learn, in a few days, the mechanics, objectives, and ideals of democracy. “Learning by doing” is the keynote to the success of this program.
Through this program, the American Legion Auxiliary hopes to make our young citizens realize that they are an essential part of their government and are responsible for its character and success. Through it, we seek to teach them individual responsibility to the community, state, and nation.
Chosen by KFS Faculty, rising seniors Janeva Hutcheson and Hanna Mahaney, are representing Kenston Forest School at Longwood University for one week.
Boys State is among the most respected educational programs of government instruction for high school students. Each participant becomes a part of the operation of his local, county and state government.
Virginia Boys State is a leadership action program, designed to develop a working knowledge of the structure of government and to impress upon the citizen the fact that our government is just what we make it. Along the way they will have the opportunity to learn the political process. Each level of government will be run by those delegates who are elected to serve. Instruction will be presented on the law and court system, parliamentary procedure and Virginia political history.
Chosen by KFS Faculty, rising seniors Jake Calhoun and JD Rimon, are representing Kenston Forest School at Radford University for one week.

Thank you for visiting our website, and for taking time to learn about our school family. Kenston Forest School is a happy place, a place where all who enter gladly learn and gladly teach.

We are a family school, where parents and grandparents are welcome partners to inspiring mentor-teachers and coaches, where all adults share a bright, optimistic vision of what children become.

We are proud of our school and excited to help you learn more about us. I hope you will visit us and that you, too, will become part of our Kenston Forest family.

Testimonials

Thank you all so much for the role that each of you played in my children’s education. Honestly, you know that private school tuition can be a burden for some of our families (mine included), but I always think of the words shared with me by our former librarian who encouraged me with this: “I’ve never regretted the sacrifices I had to make to send my child to KFS.”
