The Virginia Municipal League held its awards ceremony for the “If I Were Mayor” essay contest on Wednesday, Jan. 27.  Over 1,000 (1,019) essays were submitted from seventh graders across the Commonwealth.

Eight district winners were awarded with Gracie Coover winning district four.  Gracie attended the ceremony at the Library of Virginia along with her mother, grandmother, and teacher.  Governor McAuliffe presented each winner with a plaque and cash award.
