May 23, 2019 – Blackstone, VA

During the Class Day celebration held in the school gymnasium on Thursday, May 23, 2019, Kenston Forest School announced its valedictorian, salutatorian, and historian for the Class of 2019.

Miss Emily Reagan Hawthorne, daughter of Robert and Nicole Hawthorne of Lunenburg, was named valedictorian. Emily is a second generation Kavalier.  She is in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Rotary Interact, National Honor Society and currently serves as the Student Government Association Secretary.   She has participated in the Association of Virginia Academies (AVA) Forensics and Scholastic Bowl competitions.   Emily was also a member of  the cross-country and basketball teams and has earned VCC All-Academic Awards for both sports.  Emily has been accepted to American University, George Washington University, and Regent University. Emily plans to take a “gap year” next year to fully explore her options and determine the best educational plan for her.

 

 

 

 

Miss Rachel Carrington Moore was named salutatorian.  She is the daughter of Ronnie and Yvonne Moore of Kenbridge.  Rachel is the Vice President of Kenston Forest School’s chapter of the National Honor Society.  She is also a member of the Rotary Interact and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.   Rachel was on the VCC Tournament Champion and VISAA State Division III Champion softball team and earned VCC All-Academic Awards.  She has been accepted to Christopher Newport University, James Madison University, and Virginia Tech.  Rachel will  attend Virginia Tech.

 

 

 

 

 

McKaellen Renee Wilkerson was named historian. She is the daughter of Bill and Tonya Wilkerson of Crewe.  McKaellen is a member of the National Honor Society and Rotary Interact.  She has participated in the Association of Virginia Academies (AVA) Forensics and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  McKaellen was a member of the KFS Cheer Team and earned the VCC All-Academic Award for cheer.  McKaellen has been accepted to James Madison University and Coastal Carolina University.  McKaellen will attend Coastal Carolina and has been selected to be on the Coastal Carolina University Dance Team.

 

 

 

 

 

Kenston Forest School graduation ceremonies will begin with the Baccalaureate Service at Crenshaw United Methodist Church in Blackstone on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 7:00 PM.  Miss Hawthorne and Miss Moore will deliver their speeches and Miss Wilkerson will deliver the history of the Class of 2019 during Commencement Exercises on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 6:30 PM, at Kenston Forest School.  Randy Holmes, Kenston Forest School alumnus, Class of 1975 will address the Class of 2019 graduates.
